by PPP. It hosts one of the largest refugee populations in the world due to the Rohingya
genocide. Bangladesh faces many
challenges, including the adverse effects of climate change, poverty, illiteracy, corruption, demonstrations, and authoritarianism. However, the poverty rate has
halved since 2011. Once a historic center of the muslin
cloth trade, Bangladesh is now one of the world's
largest modern garment exporters. Its economy has constantly been among the fastest growing
economies in the 21st century.
Bangladesh's climate is
tropical, with a mild winter from October to March and a hot, humid summer from
March to June. A warm and humid monsoon season lasts from
June to October and supplies most of the country's rainfall.
Bangladesh's tourist
attractions include historical sites and monuments, resorts, beaches, picnic
spots, forests and wildlife of various species. Activities for tourists include angling, water
skiing, river cruising, hiking, rowing, yachting,
and sea bathing.
